During this two-day, self-guided walking tour of Las Vegas, you will hit most of the casinos and must-see attractions along the iconic Strip. I follow this route any time I travel to Las Vegas with a first-time visitor. It is best for this itinerary that you begin your walking tour in the center of The Strip. One day you will walk south, and one day you will walk north.

It does not matter which day you walk north or south, but I would recommend walking south on the first day. On the South route, you will be visiting Garrett’s Popcorn, the M&M store and Hershey’s Chocolate World. I like to buy snacks on my first day of vacation, so I can enjoy them the rest of the days.
Where to Stay
Staying in the middle of The Strip is one of the main reasons Why I Always Stay at Paris Las Vegas. But if Paris is not your scene, there are several other options in the area.
Budget-Friendly Options
Middle-of-the-Road Options
Luxury and Boutique Hotel Options
- Caesar’s Palace
- Bellagio
- The Cosmopolitan
- The Cromwell
How Much Will You Walk
The short answer is a lot. Each day you will walk approximately 5-6 miles, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes!
DAY 1 – South Side of the Walking Tour of Las Vegas
Any busy day should begin with a hearty breakfast, and today is no exception. Enjoy breakfast at a restaurant in the hotel you are staying or at Café Americana in Paris. Ask to sit “outside” so you can enjoy a Parisian view while dining. While in Paris, take a walk down the faux Parisian street, and admire the Eiffel Tower in front of the hotel. Have you ever seen a Las Vegas wedding chapel? Take the elevator to the Paris wedding chapel. After leaving Paris, begin walking south on Las Vegas Boulevard. As you pass the vehicle entrance to Paris, look left to see a replica Arc de Triomphe.
Enter Planet Hollywood next and walk the Miracle Mile Shops. I always like to stop at Garrett’s Popcorn and grab a snack here. In the casino near the escalator to the hotel lobby is a giant light installation. The massive ball of light changes colors and makes for a great photo opportunity.
From Planet Hollywood, you will walk about 0.5 miles before getting to the next casino, MGM Grand. However, there are several shops along the way if you choose to stop. Also, you will pass a Tix4Tonight stand where you can purchase same-day tickets to shows. If you want to see a show this night, here is a good place to make your ticket purchase. I always stop at the Coca-Cola store and the M&M store for souvenirs and snacks.
Stop in the MGM Grand and look at this exquisite hotel and casino. At this point, I usually bypass Tropicana and head straight to Excalibur for a knight at the round table themed casino.
At the front of Excalibur, catch the free tram to Luxor. Marvel at the replica Sphinx from the outside. Did you know that the replica Sphinx is actually larger than the original Great Sphinx of Giza? Inside the pyramid-shaped hotel, take note of the inclinators which lift guests at a 39-degree angle to their floor.
If you choose to, you can take the tram to Mandalay Bay. I usually skip Mandalay Bay and head straight for New York New York. New York New York is one of my favorite themed hotels on the walking tour of Las Vegas. The corridors are made to look like the dingy New York streets of the early 1900s. The outside displays replicas of the Statue of Liberty, New York skyline, and Brooklyn Bridge. Get your thrills on The Big Apple Coaster, a rollercoaster that maneuvers inside and outside the building. Grab a slice of traditional New York style pizza for lunch at New York Pizzeria. Before you leave get your chocolate fix at Hershey’s Chocolate World.
As you continue your walking tour of Las Vegas northward, stop in the new Park MGM casino. This casino used to be Monte Carlo, and it is the only casino on The Strip that is smoke-free. Continue to Aria for an urban-glam themed hotel and casino. Check out the Water Wall near the lobby and walk through the luxurious Shops at Crystals.
If Aria is not glitzy enough for you, go to The Cosmopolitan where the Chandelier Bar blinds you with shimmering crystals draped among the floors.
Your last stop of the day on your walking tour of Las Vegas is the Bellagio. This upscale Italian-themed casino has a beautiful lobby. Look up to see an art blossom glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly on the ceiling. Walk past the lobby to the impressive Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens that are changed seasonally. Make your way to the front of the Bellagio on Las Vegas Boulevard to watch the Fountains of the Bellagio dance to hit music from throughout the years.
Complete your night with dinner and a show, relax and people watch, or dance the night away if your feet are not too tired from your first day of the walking tour!
DAY 2 – North Side of the Walking Tour of Las Vegas
Begin your second day on your walking tour of Las Vegas with another hearty breakfast. This morning I recommend eating at Hexx in front of Paris; you will need to make reservations. Begin walking to Bally’s from inside Paris. The two are connected through an indoor walkway. As you make your way to the front of Bally’s, look at the display cases with traditional Las Vegas showgirl costumes. Peruse the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of Bally’s. A Tix4Tonight booth is also in this location if you want to purchase same-day show tickets.
Continue walking north entering The Cromwell on your way to the Flamingo. Walk toward the northeast corner of the Flamingo to access the the Wildlife Habitat, a lush 15-acre property filled with flamingos and other exotic birds and fish.
Exit the Flamingo to access The Linq Promenade. Here you can take a ride on the world’s tallest observation wheel, High Roller. You can also compete in a beer pong tournament at O’Shea’s.
Walk through The Linq casino on your way to Harrah’s. Continue walking north to the Venetian, a Venetia-themed hotel and casino. As you make your way inside the entrance, look up at the exquisite painted ceilings that imitate The Sistine Chapel. Walk through the Grand Canal Shoppes until you see the waterways. Take a ride in a romantic gondola while gondola operators serenade you (or watch others as a gondola ride is quite pricey). Follow the walkway until you reach St. Mark’s Square where you can indulge in some tasty gelato.
Continue walking to Palazzo and head down the escalator to see the Love Art Sculpture.
Resume your walking tour of Las Vegas into The Wynn where you will be greeted with a large waterfall and small dancing fountains at the entrance. As you walk in, take note of the extravagant tufted ceilings and intricate tiled floors. Enjoy a late lunch at The Buffet for an extravagant dining experience. Walk into The Encore which is The Wynn’s sister property.
Cross Las Vegas Boulevard and head back south. You will not visit Circus Circus or the Stratosphere on this walking tour of Las Vegas. Across the street, you can enter the Fashion Show Mall that hosts fashion shows on a retractable runway within the mall.
Walk the plank at the Treasure Island casino. While here, take line dancing lessons at Gilley’s before walking to The Mirage. Watch the Volcano erupt in front of The Mirage nightly.
The big finale of the walking tour of Las Vegas is Caesar’s Palace. There are hidden gems all over this Roman-themed casino including extravagant fountains, exposed statues, and sky-painted ceilings. Enter this casino through the Forum Shops entrance and shop ‘til you drop as you make your way. Watch statues move at the Fall of Atlantis show located near the Cheesecake Factory. If you aren’t too full from your all-you-can eat lunch, I recommend eating dinner in Caesar’s Palace. Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, and Trevi Italian Restaurant are all great options.
